°µÍø³Ô¹Ï paralegal student elected as Wisconsin Student Government president

Klein makes history as first °µÍø³Ô¹Ï student to serve in role

°µÍø³Ô¹Ï is pleased to announce Kendra Klein, who will graduate from the college's legal studies/paralegal program in May 2026, has been chosen as president of the Wisconsin Student Government. The Manitowoc County resident is the first °µÍø³Ô¹Ï student to be elected to this position, which has traditionally been filled by students representing larger urban colleges within the Wisconsin Technical College System.

WSG is comprised of student representatives from the 16 Wisconsin Technical College System districts. The organization's mission is "to represent, promote, advocate and protect the interests of the technical colleges and their students," according to its website. WSG also aims to develop relationships and communicate with state legislators while garnering support for the WTCS.

"Congratulations to Kendra on this exciting opportunity to represent not only °µÍø³Ô¹Ï, but all the technical colleges within Wisconsin," said °µÍø³Ô¹Ï President Dr. Paul Carlsen. "We are proud of her achievement and look forward to the work she is able to accomplish with the Wisconsin Student Government."

Klein, who began her one-year term in April, says she has always had an interest in law and its role in government and politics. She previously served in a governor role representing °µÍø³Ô¹Ï. Each of the WTCS colleges has two governors within the WSG. Each college, however, is allowed one vote to elect its president following presentations by individuals who seek to fill the role annually.

"I'm hoping to strengthen the communications and relationships among the 16 colleges' governors and lieutenant governors so they can actively share their college's unique strengths and needs," Klein shared. "My goal is for us to come to a similar understanding and identify priorities that we will present as a collective, student-driven organization to our local legislators across Wisconsin."

In her role as WSG president, Klein will not only attend the organization's monthly meetings, but also the Wisconsin Technical College System Board meetings every two months. In February, she will meet with state representatives in Madison to discuss key issues important to WTCS students including such topics as mental health support and resources, affordable education, food insecurity, broadband internet accessibility, and childcare. She is looking forward to becoming even more involved in °µÍø³Ô¹Ï and gaining a better understanding of the other technical colleges within the WTCS.

Klein also continues to serve as president of °µÍø³Ô¹Ï's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and the Paralegal Student Association. She assumed both roles beginning in fall 2024.
